Available in Pro and Enterprise plans.
Magic Edit polishes new Scribes automatically, so you spend less time fixing titles, tightening step text, and trimming noise. After you finish capturing, Scribe improves your title and description, rewrites step instructions for clarity, removes redundant or accidental steps, merges similar actions, and adds section headers to organize longer flows. You land in edit mode on the already-improved guide, ready to review.
Magic Edit is built for teams who capture real workflows but don't want editing to be the bottleneck — especially on longer Scribes where small fixes add up across many steps.
How it works
- Record your Scribe the way you normally would (extension or desktop)
- When you finish capturing, your Scribe opens in edit mode. While Magic Edit runs, you'll see a loading state at the top — the editor stays read-only until processing finishes.
- When Magic Edit completes, you'll see your polished Scribe with changes already applied, plus a success message and an Undo all option if you want to revert everything to the original capture in one action.
- Review the result: click any individual step or merged GIF to keep, edit, or undo just that piece, make any other manual edits you want, then click Done editing to save.
Plans and limits:
- On Pro, Magic Edit supports Scribes with up to 150 steps.
- On Enterprise, Magic Edit is included for eligible organizations with no limit.
FAQs
Does Magic Edit run automatically?
Yes. As soon as you finish a capture, Magic Edit polishes it for you — no extra step on your end.
What if Magic Edit gets something wrong?
You have full control over your Scribe. Click Undo all at the top to revert everything Magic Edit did, or click any individual step or merged GIF to edit or undo just that piece. Your original capture is always the source of truth.
Can I turn it off?
Yes. Open the Sidekick settings in the extension or Desktop app to turn Magic Edit off. Any Scribes you capture after that will follow the setting, and Magic Edit won’t be applied. Flip it back on whenever you want.
If you don’t see the Magic Edit option, make sure you’re using the latest version of the Desktop app and browser extension.
What exactly can Magic Edit change?
Typically: title and description, step text, merged steps, steps suggested for deletion (shown distinctly so you can reverse them), and section headers. Wording and layout in the UI are the source of truth for what you see.
Can I re-run Magic Edit?
Magic Edit runs once, automatically, when you finish capturing. There isn't a way to re-run it on the same Scribe afterward.
Does Magic Edit work on every Scribe?
A few exceptions:
- It only runs on new Scribes you capture after Magic Edit launches — it doesn't auto-run on older ones.
- Voice-transcribed Scribes aren't supported today.
