Minimum specs:
- CPU: 4 cores
- RAM: 16 GB
- OS: Windows 11 (or Windows Server), or macOS (Apple Silicon or Intel — be sure to download the correct installer for your chip)
Running Optimize in a virtual machine (VM/VDI)? Provision the VM with the same baseline: at least 4 CPUs and 16 GB RAM. If you use Citrix/VDI, install the desktop app on the remote/VDI machine itself, not just your local device.
macOS permissions: On first launch, macOS will prompt for Accessibility and Screen Recording permissions. Both must be granted or workflow data won't be captured.
Virtual Machines are advised to be running on hardware with dedicated Virtualization support.
Performance notes:
- Optimize is a lightweight background process — in day-to-day use it typically uses a small fraction of one CPU core and a few hundred MB of RAM.
- If you notice slowdowns, they're most often caused by antivirus software scanning Scribe's files. Whitelisting Scribe (and excluding
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Scribefrom real-time scanning) usually resolves this. - Always run the latest version of the desktop app for the best performance — updates require closing and reopening the app.
