Available to Pro Team and Enterprise customers.
Comments ensure Scribes are accurate and easy to follow by giving users a simple way to flag issues or suggest updates. Editors can quickly make changes and resolve the comment, and updates are reflected instantly wherever the guide is shared or embedded.
This feature is only supported for Scribe documents, not Pages documents.
Leaving and managing comments
There are two ways to add comments in a Scribe: on an individual step or on the entire Scribe. Just click the floating bubble next to any specific step to leave targeted feedback, or use the bubble at the top of the guide to add a comment at the guide level. Want to loop someone in? Just type @ followed by their name or email to tag them. You can also reply to any comment directly in the thread.
If you are the Scribe creator or an editor, you can view all your new, existing, and resolved comments directly from the comments side panel.
Setting comment visibility & permissions
Permissions for comments are set at the Scribe level, and you can enable permissions in the editor side panel. Admins can also manage comment settings across the entire workspace in settings.
If comments are enabled, anyone with access to your Scribe who is signed in to a Scribe account can view and interact with comments. Users who aren’t signed in will still see the total number of comments on a Scribe, but they’ll need to sign in to read, add, or reply to them. If comments are not enabled, only the Scribe creator and editors can see or add comments. This gives the creator control over when feedback is visible to others and when it stays internal to the editing team.
All comments made prior to the July 2025 release of our new commenting experience have been preserved. To resolve or add additional comments, you must be a Pro Team or Enterprise customer. Reactions have been deprecated to focus on providing editors with more actionable feedback.
