Currently available as a private beta to select customers.
AutoCapture makes documenting processes truly effortless — you don't need to click start or stop to capture a Scribe. Instead, it will create Scribes for you. When enabled, AutoCapture will look for key workflows you're doing — only on domains that you've whitelisted. It will transform your workflows into polished, step-by-step guides, which you can choose to save, edit, and share (or discard) in seconds.
AutoCapture is great if you want to document your work without having to pause and intentionally think about which workflows to capture, or automatically capture the latest best practices when workflows change.
How it works
To use AutoCapture, follow these simple steps:
- Open the Scribe extension and launch Sidekick.
- Click “Try AutoCapture.”
- Add the domains where you’d like Scribe to capture workflows from your activity.
- Select “Get Started.”
- Come back next week to review your automatically drafted Scribes.
Security and data protection
As the user, you and your organization remain in control of all data that AutoCapture processes. Only the domains you whitelist are analyzed, and nothing outside your approved list is ever captured. In addition, the following security is enforced:
- Encryption everywhere: All data is encrypted both in transit and at rest.
- Secure storage: Screenshots, step text, and metadata are kept in a secure cloud environment behind a web application firewall and intrusion detection and prevention.
- Strict deletion: Raw capture data used to generate workflow steps is permanently removed within the retention period your organization sets.
Independent security audits and testing
Scribe undergoes annual SOC 2 Type II audits to confirm that our security and privacy controls meet industry standards. In addition, independent third-party firms perform penetration tests to identify and remediate potential vulnerabilities before they can be exploited. These steps help ensure that your data is protected at every layer of the platform.
FAQs
If I have AutoCapture turned on, does it look at everything I do on my computer?
No. AutoCapture only works on the specific domains you choose to whitelist. Outside of those approved domains, Scribe does not capture anything.
What activity does AutoCapture record?
AutoCapture records clicks, keystrokes, and screen changes to create step-by-step guides.
What happens after Autocapture records a workflow?
Scribe automatically creates a guide with screenshots and instructions. You can review, edit, save, and share it — or discard it. Nothing is saved or shared without your approval.
How does redaction work with AutoCapture?
To give you the most accurate workflow suggestions, AutoCapture analyzes your activity from your whitelisted domains using the original capture data. If your organization has Smart Privacy Screen (SPS) enabled, Scribe will automatically redact sensitive fields in the final saved guide — so the version you review, edit, and share never contains that sensitive information. While raw capture data is briefly processed in order to generate accurate steps, only the redacted version is stored. Smart blur isn’t supported today.
Who can access my data?
Access is strictly limited. Only a small number of Scribe software engineers and support personnel may access your data when needed to troubleshoot or resolve bugs. They work under a least permissions access control policy, meaning they see only what is absolutely required to address the issue.
No other Scribe employees can view or use your data unless you have explicitly shared a Scribe.
