What is the Difference Between Installing for "Just for Me" and "Everyone"?

Windows

When installing the Scribe Desktop app on Windows, you'll be asked to choose between two installation options: Just for Me or Everyone. Here's what each one means and which one to pick.

Just for Me

This option installs Scribe in your personal user folder, without administrator-level privileges. It's the quicker option, but it comes with limitations:
  • Some features may not work correctly
  • Scribe may miss steps when recording applications that run with elevated permissions (like Task Manager)
  • You may see a "Limited Installation" warning in the app

Everyone (Recommended)

This option installs Scribe in the Program Files directory with the proper system permissions. This is what we recommend for the best experience:
  • All features work as expected
  • Scribe can capture applications that require elevated permissions
  • No "Limited Installation" message
Note: Installing for "Everyone" does not give other users access to your Scribe account. Your profile and recordings stay private.

What if I already installed it for "Just for Me"?

You'll need to reinstall. Follow this guide to install Scribe for All Users: Installing Scribe for All Users

On a work device? You may need your IT team to complete the installation with admin credentials.
