Managing your approved app list

Autocapture only works in apps on your approved list. This article explains what that list is and how to manage it.

What it is

Each approved app has a tag, called an AppTag, that tells Scribe where Autocapture is allowed to capture activity. Only apps with an AppTag are captured.

Choosing which apps to capture

Both Pro Team and Enterprise start with a Scribe-curated list of ~250 top business apps that admins can choose to add. The list is fully customizable — admins can add or remove apps at any time.

The key difference is where Autocapture works:

  • Pro Team: Supports browser-based apps only.
  • Enterprise: Supports both browser-based and desktop apps.

Adding a custom or internal app

Autocapture isn’t limited to the apps in Scribe’s curated list. Admins can add custom AppTags for internal or homegrown tools by mapping them to a URL or application name.

Custom AppTags are always added deliberately by an admin — Scribe never adds one automatically.

What Autocapture does with apps on this list

Only activity inside approved apps, for enrolled people, is captured. Anything outside the list — a different app, or someone who isn't enrolled — is never captured.

Good to know

  • If a tool isn't showing up in Autocapture, the most common reason is that it hasn't been added as an AppTag yet.
  • On Enterprise, one app list applies across both Autocapture and Optimize, if your organization uses both.
