Turning on Autocapture means allowing Scribe to start capturing activity in specific apps, for specific people on your team. Once it's on, no one has to press record — Scribe surfaces what people are already doing so it can become documentation.
Where to turn it on
Go to Settings in Scribe. When Autocapture is available for your account, you'll see a setup banner that walks you through it step by step.
Setup covers three things:
- Choose your apps — the list Autocapture is allowed to capture activity in.
- Choose your people — who gets enrolled. This can include yourself.
- Confirm everyone's on a supported version — Autocapture needs the Scribe extension (and, on Enterprise, the desktop app) installed, signed in, and up to date.
Pro Team
Turning on Autocapture enrolls your team, starting from a Scribe-curated list of common business apps plus anything your team has already created Scribes in. You can add your own apps to that list, and remove any.
Enterprise
Enterprise gives you two setup paths:
- Recommended setup — a guided, one-click way to get started with sensible defaults.
- Custom setup — choose exactly which teams, individuals, or roles get enrolled, and build your own app list.
Enterprise also lets you enable Workflow Mapping for specific teams or people instead of your whole org, and gives System Admins centralized control. See Enabling and managing Workflow Mapping for your team for details.
What happens after it's enabled
- Each enrolled person's own activity starts showing up in My Activity, usually within about 48 hours.
- The admin Team Activity view, which aggregates everyone enrolled, takes longer to build a clear picture — typically 7–10 days.
- Nothing is published automatically. Every piece of captured activity has to be reviewed by a person before it becomes a Scribe or Page.
Good to know
- Coverage depends on people actually having the extension (or desktop app) installed, signed in, and running a supported version.
- Admins can check who's actively being captured under Settings → Workflow Mapping status.
- Make sure Autocapture is working correctly for your team in setting. See Enabling and Managing Workflow Mapping for your team for details.
