Autocapture surfaces the work you've done across your business tools automatically and creates draft guides you can share with your team. Instead of deciding what to capture upfront, Scribe captures activity as you work across your approved business apps. You can come back later to find a specific process you know you completed — or discover work you didn't think to document in the first place.
You can review captured activity in two places:
- My Activity — Your own captured activities, which you can turn into Scribes.
- Team Activity (admins only) — Your team's activities, organized into workflows. Within each workflow, you can find activities to turn into Scribes.
Nothing gets published automatically. You, or an admin, always choose which activity becomes a Scribe or Page, review it, and share it.
What's included, and how it works
Your trial includes all Autocapture functionality:
- My Activity — each person's own feed of captured activity across your team's approved business apps, visible only to that person.
- Team Activity — the view across everyone on your team who's enrolled, organized into workflows so you can see how work actually gets done and spot documentation gaps. Visible to System Admins and Team Admins only.
- Desktop and extension capture.
- The ability to turn any activity — from My Activity or Team Activity — into a Scribe, ready for review before it publishes.
Your team stays in control of what becomes documentation. Autocapture drafts documents for your review, and nothing publishes without your team's review.
How long the trial lasts
Your Autocapture trial runs for 30 days from the day you complete setup.
Who can use Autocapture during the trial
What each person can do depends on their role:
| Role | What they can do |
|---|---|
| System Admin | Start the trial, configure it, and see both My Activity and Team Activity |
| Team Admin | Request a trial, and see both My Activity and Team Activity for their team |
| Creator | Request a trial, and see their own activity in My Activity |
| Viewer | Not in scope |
There's no limit during your trial on the number of documents you can create using Autocapture.
What starts the trial
Your trial starts when a System Admin completes the Autocapture setup flow in Scribe.
During setup, you'll decide the details of your deployment, including:
- Which applications to capture — start from Scribe's curated list of approved business apps, and add or remove apps at any time.
- Which teams are included.
- Whether to use pseudonyms, so activity isn't attributed to named individuals.
Confirming the Autocapture setup starts your 30-day trial immediately, and workflow mapping begins right away for everyone in scope.
When to expect results
The table below gives general guidelines for when to expect initial results. Narrower deployments (fewer apps captured, fewer participants) may take longer.
| What | When to expect it |
|---|---|
| My Activity | Within 1–2 business days of starting your trial |
| Team Activity | Within 7–10 business days of starting your trial |
Team Activity takes longer because it needs to see enough people doing enough related work to recognize a shared process.
You'll be notified by email when results are ready to review.
If results are missing or thinner than expected
Check these in order:
- Extension coverage. Every participant needs the Scribe extension (and/or desktop app, if in scope) installed for workflow mapping to work.
- Sign-in state. Participants who aren't signed in to Scribe produce no activity.
- Scope. Revisit your setup and confirm the applications and teams you selected. If your team's real work happens in a tool that isn't on your whitelist, Autocapture won't see it.
- Activity levels. Autocapture needs sustained work to find a repeatable process. Teams on light weeks, holidays, or unconventional schedules will likely produce less.
If you're still unsure, reach out to your Account Manager or success@scribehow.com.
If you want to keep Autocapture
When your trial ends, Autocapture features become unavailable unless your account has Autocapture included in its plan. New activity stops being captured, and anything in My Activity or Team Activity that wasn't turned into a Scribe is no longer accessible.
To keep Autocapture, talk to us before your trial ends. Depending on where you are in your contract, this may be part of your renewal or something we can arrange sooner. It's worth starting the conversation while your trial is still running, so there's no gap in access. Reach out to your Account Manager or to success@scribehow.com.
Not a current Scribe customer, but exploring an Autocapture trial?
If you're evaluating Autocapture and don't yet have a Scribe account with your organization, the trial is started and configured by a Scribe representative alongside your team, rather than self-serve. The fastest way to get set up is to talk to our sales team:
Fill out the form with a bit of information about your team and use case, and a member of our sales team will follow up to scope your trial, walk through setup, and answer any questions about plans, security, and compliance.
